So, what is a

Gayageum? It’s a musical instrument found in Korea. Usually we post a short film, today is different, we are posting a short video, a #music video. What’s the difference between a short film and a short video? A short film tells a story, a short video shares information, sometimes in a story kind of format…but often the sharing of information is enough. That’s certainly the story here, we saw this video of this amazing performance by this young musician, of the work of an icon, Jimi Hendrix. The gayageum, a strange looking ‘musical’ instrument with strings everywhere! It looked like a an acoustic something…but a guitar?, nah…it’s on a table, flat like a xylophone or something equally exotic or certainly unusual. And, we wondered would a ‘mere’ 13 year old be able to really do Jimi Hendrix  justice…see for yourself!

Like I said…who knew about the Gayageum? I want to learn that!!

#jimihendrix, left us too soon, but his legacy lives on in his music. 1. All I can say is… WOW! Great sound from a never heard of instrument! Honestly, I have never heard of a Gayageum until now. Looks so complicated! The Korean girl in the video is doing it effortlessly! Thank you for sharing. Another new bit of information to store in my anatomical hard drive. 🙂
